The Second Amendment.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Weapons of war don't belong in private hands;
they belong in the hands of privates on duty.

These days, armed revolution against repressive government leads to chaos and destruction of order, culture, and society. It does not preserve freedom, it destroys freedom.

Today, the people can not meet the revolutionary consensus as to what the Founding Fathers argued a well ordered militia meant to them - all men well trained from youth in guns. Our freedom is more at stake today from money, media, and militarized police, than then, and no amount of guns in the hands of the untrained masses will save us. Armed citizens, in this day and age, can not muster an armed and trained 'militia' to rise up against a repressive government when the repression comes from the sheep lead by the non-government moneyed few. We have long ago lost the revolutionary culture that prevailed at the birth of this country.

According to a study conducted in late April by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institute of Literacy, 32 million adults in the U.S. can't read. That's 14 percent of the population. 21 percent of adults in the U.S. read below a 5th grade level, and 19 percent of high school graduates can't read.

It's not lack of a gun owned by every male (and female) that robs us of freedom, it's the denial or adequate education through the rich-dominated Republicans by media controlled by the ultra-moneyed few.

Bernie's political revolution to restore power to the people, restore education, restore health, and restore commonwealth to the people is what we need to restore and preserve our freedom.

Weapons of war don't belong in private hands; they belong in the hands of privates on duty

Require background checks for every gun transaction, with a week's waiting period, except for 17th century weapons manufactured prior to 1880, which shall have no restrictions. Outlaw private possession of weapons of war except for honorably discharged veterans who have served in combat and weapons rendered inoperable and incapable of being restored to full operation.  Any weapon capable of firing at any rate faster than a Gatling gun shall be classified as a weapon of war.

The SECOND AMENDMENT

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The semantics of the English Language: The leading dependent clause establishes the context and limits to which the main clause applies.

'The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed' means in order to maintain the necessary militias. It does not mean every person can have every kind of firearm.

Like automobiles and traffic, gun registration and discharge regulations are States rights reserved by the Tenth Amendment. The Second Amendment gives the States the right and mandate to have a standing army (militia), which the federal government can call upon when the need arises, and the states can call upon when needed locally to maintain order and assist in emergency. At a time when there was no difference in power between war and hunting weapons of the individual, the right to the people to keep their own subsistence tool was automatic.

Repealing the whole second amendment will allow states to disband their national guards. Nothing in the second amendment prohibits states from regulating fire arms for safety.

The real problem is money in politics.          xenodochy.org/pod/
